For the next week HEAL will be out in Aspen, CO for ESPN's Winter X-Games 14.  During this trip we will be constantly updating this blog with content from the X-Games and with information on how the 2 athletes HEAL supports, Doug Henry and Mike Schultz, are doing.

If all goes well we should have photos, video footage, and other content for you on a daily basis.  We might even run a contest to win some free product while we are out there.

So keep checking in and look down below for all the great X-games content we will be posting on the site.

Don't forget to watch the X-Games on TV and cheer for our athletes starting Thursday the 28th to Sunday the 1st.

Doug Henry and Mike Schultz Take Home Winter X Games 14 Medals

| More

The final day of X Games 14 was in my opinion the best day of the entire event.  This could be because both Doug Henry and Mike Schultz took home Winter X Games Medals for the Adaptive Snocross race.  Doug Henry took home the Bronze medal and Mike Schultz took home the Gold medal.  Both of the athletes were amazing to watch and truly inspirational to many people both at home and at the event watching.

Doug Henry being the motocross/supercross legend that he is had a big following coming into this event with many people just excited to see him back at racing.  On board a Yamaha snowmobile with the support of Monster Energy and Planet Fitness, Doug was able to get back to his roots of racing after his accident in 2007 which left him paralyzed from the waist down.  Doug was the only racer in the adaptive race to be sitting on his sled for the entire race strapped down to help keep his legs on the snowmobile.   Doug came from behind in the race and made it up to third place to grab the bronze medal.  If there were a few more laps I think he could of pulled off second but that's only my opinion.

Everyone was very happy to see Doug back at racing and his smile showed everyone how happy he was just to be able to compete in this event.  Medal or no medal it was truly a race that Doug will never forget along with the other competitors of the Adaptive Snocross race.

Coming home with Gold was "Monster" Mike Schultz.  Mike was competing in this race using a prosthetic leg he manufactured himself.  I got to see his amazing build of this leg and can tell you it is simply crazy that he was able to build and design this on his own.  It is nothing less than amazing and it was able to help bring him to the top of the Podium to get him the Winter X Games Gold for the Adaptive Snocross race.

Mike was competitive in previous X Games for the Snocross race and was a top competitor on the Snocross circuit nationally.  But at the Winter X Games 14 Mike was able to accomplish something he had not yet accomplished and took home a first place during this race.  Mike came out strong from the start and just pulled away leaving the rest of the pack behind.  Not only did Mike come out of this with a gold medal but showed everyone how great of a Snocross racer he still is and will be in the future.

Doug Henry, Mike Schultz, and the rest of the Adaptive Snocross racers are beyond simply being racers.  They are leaders in a elite group of people showing the world what can be possible after life changing accidents.   They faced their challenges and are pushing through them with determination.  They inspired the lives of many and will continue to do so competing in these adaptive programs.  For all of us there this should be a lesson for the next time we may think we "can't" do something.  Anything is possible as long as you put your heart into it you can accomplish anything you want to.

Not only a Congratulations to both Doug and Mike but a big Thank You to all the racers in the Adaptive Snocross event.  It was inspiring to watch you all race and every one of you is a winner in our book.

Today is the Day

| More

Final Day of the X Games is here and the biggest race for us is about to happen.  The Adaptive Snocross is one of the new events for the X Games and HEAL is lucky enough to have two insanely inspirational athletes competing in it.  Yesterday was practice for them and they both looked great.

Both Doug Henry and Mike Schultz will be taking to the starting line in what is the biggest name for winter action sports.  As a new sport the Adaptive Snocross also brings X Games medal with it and we are hoping for both Doug and Mike to walk away with one each.

This is big for both of these athletes.  Doug became paralyzed back in 2007 from a Supermoto accident and Mike losing part of his leg during a Snocross event.  Both have risen above these injuries to pursue what they love in racing.  This is a great opportunity for them to show others that having these injuries aren't the end of the lives they love.

The X Games have been amazing so far and today will just be the icing on the cake.  Make sure to tune into ESPN for the Snocross race starting at 12PM EST and cheer for HEAL's Doug Henry #19 and Mike Schultz #5.

We wish both these amazing athletes the best of luck today and thank them for showing us what true heart and determination is.

X Games Contest

yes we watched superpie near a giant beaver

Yesterday was most likely two of the biggest events for the Winter X Games at Aspen.  There was theMens Superpipe final and Best Trick Snocross.  Everyone in attendance (over 20,000) got to see Shaun White win again in the pipe but also got to see a no handed backflip from start to finish on a snowmobile.

Limits were pushed and records broken at the X Games again with 2 days to go there is sure to be more excitement to come.  With that we are going to be giving away a t-shirt today on our facebook page  All you will need to do is email us with the correct answer and first one to do so wins.  So become a fan and take a chance at winning a shirt from HEAL Clothing.

We will be watching Doug Henry and Mike Schultz practice for the Adaptive Snocross today.  Don't forget to watch tomorrow as both these amazing athletes compete in one of the new events at Winter X.

Day 2 at the X Games

Yesterday was the kick off of the X Games.  A few medals were awarded and some of the elimination rounds went down.  One of the biggest upsets might have been with Scotty Lago not making it into the Superpipe finals.

We checked out all the festivities and watch a bunch of the competitions happen.  There was a lady at the welcome entrance trying to break the Guinness World Record for most hugs in 24 hours.  Not too sure if she made it, she needed 5001 to break the record, but we all gave one to try to help.  There was also another world record attempt with the lowest limbo in a snow skate.

Throughout the day you would see tons of the athletes hitting the slopes warming up or just making their way around the area.  Doug Henry was setting up his snowmobile for the Adaptive Race and also took a few runs on his Monoski through the snowcross course.

Just about all the events are spectator friendly with exception of the first half of the slopestyle course and snowcross course but they have great video screens to let you watch until they all get into view.

Make sure you watch all the action on ESPN.  It is sure to be a big night again for Winter X Games 14.

Day Before the X Games

| More

As we left the mountain yesterday late afternoon they were still drilling and hammering away at getting tents and viewing areas all set up for the festivities to start on Thursday.  We got to see some snowboard practice, freestyle snocross practice, and the monoski practice.

Today all the events kickoff into full swing and should be a much busier day at the mountain.  Surprisingly being an East coaster I do not understand what they are saying about bad conditions at the mountain and not a lot of snow.  This is some of the best conditions I have ever seen or ridden on in my life and there is not one sign of a snow gun anywhere.  All natural snow with nice powder lines in the trees and sides of the trails.  The mountain conditions alone are amazing never mind the amount of time and effort going into making the X Games come to life on this mountain.
